To Naeya’s great relief, Kohen grew up like a normal human. At 5 years old, he was a bit hyperactive: running around like crazy…sometime completely naked after the bath, she had to run after him to get him in his pyjamas. Eben told her he had had the same habit as a child…blushing like he’d done something wrong by admitting it to the love of his life. It was kind of funny and cute to her eyes. But Naeya was not a fool, the reason her only son was experiencing such high level of energy was because inside his little body his demon blood was burning for action.

-Time and patience. She told herself once again as she put her son to bed

There wasn’t much she could do but wait for both blood to co-habit.
Naeya was a full time mom, while Eben still teach demon-hunter kids how to slay. It was a good thing since that way she could deal with Kohen’s abilities and sudden actions without his Father figuring out what she was or figuring out that his one and only son had demon blood in his vein.
When Kohen was calming done, you could see how things excessively attracted his mind. He would asked questions on what he saw, asked question on what his future would be as a demon hunter. He would ask his mom to read all the books in the family house library to know more about every creature. He then started to draw them and start his own collection: of course, Mom wrote what he asked after said drawing was done.

-Why are you re-working what’s already written her Ko? She asked one day to her now 6 years old kid

-Because they are all randomly cat…

-Catalogued? She said for him. Smiling

-Yes, that.

-Weird child.

-Like you’re one to talk Mom. Everyone knows I hold from you. Her child shot back. Even Mandras thinks it.

She shot him a mock-glare.

-My own son being cocky. Tell me son, who’s Mandras?

-He’s the one who watch me when you’re outside. He said after a while. He says he serves the house.

Curse the creature, she couldn’t help to think. Mandras was probably Eben’s Mandragore servant. Mandragore were plants that wished to be human, they weren’t exactly demons which was why they hadn’t been irradiated and since they were loyal and willing to help the species had become servants to the demon-hunters. Every Demon-hunter house had one; adults couldn’t see them but children could…so did she: they weren’t on good terms considering what she was. They used to make life to each other hell when Eben hadn’t been around…Things had cooled down since Kohen was born.

-Darling of mine. How about you go play outside before lunch. We can keep doing this after.

-All right Mom.

The child run off outside while his mom climbed the stair to her son’s room.

-Come out. She ordered with a hiss

Out of the corner of the room, a young man appeared: tall, brown haired that was shoulder length, tan skin like the master of the house, dressed as a servant…one thing was different of him though: his eyes were now a very dark purple instead of blue.

-You called for me…Mistress.

-Since when did you became so polite in my presence. She asked ironically

-…you called for me Oh vile creature? He then asked, with a sardonic smile on his feature

You got to admire the thing: it had a sense of humour. She cracked a smile despite herself.

-It came to my attention that YOU are being best buddy with my son. She said calmly enough

-He’s a very bright and energetic child. You should be proud…before I forget; he’s hidden Master’s underwear’s in the garbage again and hid yours in the attic

-…

-I guess he’s somehow really hoping to have a sibling thus; he talks about it all the time. Less frequently since he started to see me I have to admit.

-As a Mother, I can understand his desire to having friends and being extremely lonely as his age…and as a Mother, you can understand how violent I can get if I feel his life is in danger.

Mandras gave her a worried look.

-You feel someone his after the Young master, Oh vile creature?

-Yes…in danger of learning something he shouldn’t before the time. She hissed. A secret about his origin that only YOU and I know.

Mandras gave her a pleading look.

-Please Mistress, I shall keep silent. I promise. Please don’t cloud me from his eyes…it’ been so long since I could talk to someone who could see me.

She understood his demand…but she had to protect her child first.

-Aren't I good enough? she asked teasingly

-Vile creature...Mandras only replied in the same tone

-I apologize for doing this Mandragore…but I need to think of my child first. I am considering dangerous for his mental state if your tongue ever slipped…and considering we don’t actually like each other…I can’t take any chances with you.

She raised he hand and did a fluid gesture with a sigh; she wasn’t too proud in taking her only son’s friend away from him.

-Don’t worry Mandragore. He’s half demon after all. There will be a time when he’ll see you again…but until that time.

- Please make sure he meets other people at least He said coldly

She left the room, leaving the Mandras to cool its anger down. Naeya decided it was probably time to introduce Kohen to other kids and to stop being so over protective and take things as they come. When Eben came home, she’ll propose her idea; surely there were kids around Kohen’s age…for the time being, she better fetch the hidden underwear or Daddy may have a very special itinerary in mind when he’ll notice this…after all she used to do it too.

That evening, probably used at seeing Mandras by his side when going to bed Kohen fussed a bit. Mandras was there just like his habit, showing himself to her to show how his presence was vital for the young Master while normally he probably waited for her to leave the room. Naeya calm her child by saying that he’ll be meeting children his age in a few days…and that he’ll see Mandras once he grew up to be a proud demon-hunter.
Kohen started at his mom, before staring at the space Mandras was standing without seeing him.

-He’s still thereéééI can feel him…he said to his mother. I least he didn’t leave. You’re really sure I’ll get to see him when I’ll be older.

Naeya smiled, pushing blond hair out of Kohen’s.

-He’ll always be there darling…but he needs to let you grow first. He knows that.

Kohen smiled. He understood; it was nice of Mandras.

-I’ll grow up fast Mandras. He said to the empty space where the creature was standing

Naeya kiss Kohen good night, as she closed the door she saw Mandras kneeling near her son’s bed; he was going to watch over his sleep as he always did.

-I understand Mistress. He said quietly. It’s true, I was probably getting myself to involve.

She nodded in acknowledgement and she was about to close the door when she heard him laugh:

-By the way…before his bath he hid the underwears again: hey are in the cellar. Like mother like son.

-Shut up! She said with laughter in her voice.
Hiding underwears...this is prmosing for the future right XD
